Weekly Road Trip with a Side of Giveaways, Coming Right Up!

Road Trip Wednesday is a ‘Blog Carnival,’ where YA Highway's contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question and answer it on their blogs. You can hop from destination to destination and get everybody's unique take on the topic.

This Week's Topic:

What is the strangest/weirdest thing you've ever researched?

I do a lot of research for my stories, everything from the anatomy of a cheetah to yin yang to Succubus to the Bernoulli spiral, but I think the weirdest thing I've ever researched...

The woolly bear caterpillar

For my superhero WIP, I needed an animal that was uh, very cold-natured (don't ask), and this little guy worked. Woolly bear caterpillars can freeze their insides to withstand Arctic temperatures of up to ninety below. Cool, huh?

Any eccentricities in YOUR google searches? Check out the other YA Highway folks to see what they said.

Now time for CONTESTS!!!

  1. I want one (or ten) of those caterpillars as pets! They look so soft and sweet... Which is a weird thing to say about an insect, because I'm scared even of ants. But STILL :) I could make a little tent for them in my freezer. AND get to watch my husband scream like a girl when he discovers them, lol

  7. omg. It looks like the cutest thing. Is that weird that I said that? Though if I ever saw it in real life it would probably frighten the mess out of me.

  8. I kind of hate bugs and creepy crawly things, but I have to admit, that caterpillar is super cute. But I think I'll just look from afar. I still wouldn't want it in my house.
