BMM: What Faction are YOU?

So, read Insurgent yet? The sequel to Divergent by Veronica Roth hit the shelves yesterday and Alison has a shiny new copy just waiting to be read. (May I have those extra five hours in my day now please?) Divergent’s dystopian Chicago is divided into five factions, and when teenagers reach a certain age, they are tested to see which faction they should choose to live with and devote their lives to. Those five factions include

Abnegation: The Selfless

Amity: The Peaceful

Erudite: The Intelligent

Dauntless: The Brave

Candor: The Honest

Last year I took the Faction quiz to see which faction I should belong to, and my best match?

Dauntless

The Person Most Likely to Be Afraid of Everything decided to take the quiz again. And again.

Yep. Still Dauntless.

I really thought I’d be Amity. Or Erudite. Even maybe Divergent. But Dauntless? Fearless and Undaunted?

And then I read the dictionary definition of undaunted in Veronica Roth’s Divergent Dictionary.

Undaunted: courageously resolute, especially in the face of danger or difficulty; not discouraged

Dauntless is the faction that values courage.

Yeah, okay. That sounds more like me.

Today’s Blog Me MAYbe question is “MAY I ask something about you?” In the spirit of Insurgent’s release, I ask you

What faction do you think you’d be steered to choose? Do you think you would be Divergent? And have YOU read Insurgent? (please no spoilers in the comments)

PS - I am also Hufflepuff and District 1. You can add Harry Potter and Hunger Games choices to your answer too!

  1. Great idea for today's question, Alison! I took the quiz and, like I figured, I'm Amity. Totally fits my personality. :)

  2. I totally thought I'd be Erudite, but I also took the quiz and got Dauntless. And after spending all these years thinking I was Ravenclaw, Pottermore Sorted me into Gryffindor. So, maybe I need to reevaluate my conceptions of courage and bravery.

And I got halfway through Insurgent last night before forcing myself to go to bed. I hope today goes by fast so I can come home and finish it!

  3. Haven't had a chance to read Insurgent yet, but I took the quiz and I'm Amity. That surprised me, but after reading the description I guess it fits me pretty well!

  4. I had a feeling I'd be Dauntless...and I am! My copy of Insurgent just came in the mail yesterday, too, and I can't WAIT to read it!

  5. Interesting, I couldn't choose, so I took the quiz and am apparently Amity! I totally thought I'd be dauntless.

I have Insurgent, but I'm saving it for my vacation next week--and it is SO HARD TO WAIT!!!

  6. According to the quiz I'm Candor but I think I'm more Amity. I WISH I were Dauntless! :-)

I started reading last night and brough my Kindle with me to school today HOPING for a free moment to keep reading Insurgent. So good!!

  7. I can't take the quiz at work, but I think I'm probably Amity, at least in my personal life (and Pottermore sorted me into Hufflepuff, so I think that about matches). In my teaching life I think I'm Erudite-Abnegation Divergent (yes, I will explain sociological theory to you again, and yes I will skip my lunch to do it). After re-reading Divergent, I can absolutely positively rule out Dauntless, because while heights themselves don't bother me, flinging myself from great heights just isn't something I could ever bring myself to do!

  8. The quiz tells me I'm Dauntless, but since I get to choose my own faction, I choose Amity all the way. Who wouldn't rather be picking flowers and growing strawberries and just having fun and being peaceful when everyone else is nasty and fighting?

I was always torn between thinking I was Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw, but Pottermore just sorted me into SLYTHERIN, which had never even occurred to me. I'm not quite sure what to make of that.

  9. Ok so weird...Personally, I think I am a mix of Dauntless and Abnegation - according to the quiz I am Candor, I think it´s because I told that old lady that I read the book and wouldn´t put myself between two shouting guys I didn´t know. I´d call for help or yell at them to stop but I think I´d be too afraid to put myself in the middle.

  10. Well, I got Abnegation...but I pick Dauntless! Because they're cool, y'know? And I am partial to the whole piercings/tattoos thing :)

  11. Hi! I'm a new follower. :)

I can't take the quiz because I no longer have a facebook account, but I'd be Amity. I like the idea of peace. :) I wish I were brave enough to say I'd want Dauntless, but alas, I am not. Ha.

I got my copy of Insurgent yesterday and love it so far! I went to the Veronica Roth signing in NYC which was awesome.

  12. I'm staring at my copy of INSURGENT. I got about 4 pages in so far, and based on those 4 pages, yeah, it's awesome.

  13. Dauntless, District 4, Slytherin! Yeah! ;)

  14. For some reason, I have yet to jump on the Divergent bandwagon, but I can tell you that I'm definitely District 4 (just for the swimming. I actually rarely like fish) and Slytherin. (That Pottermore thing is psychic. And your house is totes your favorite color. I used to love blue, and I always thought I was a Ravenclaw. Then I got bored, switched to green, and now look where I am!!)

Love the post idea! I'm being totally unoriginal, and sticking to Sara's "MAY I ask you something?" prompt...

Oh, and take heart. If you're in Dauntless, you're obviously brave. Think of Neville. In seven years, you might just decapitate a huge evil snake with an ancient, magical sword and scare Chuck Norris.

  15. I don't need to take a quiz to know I am Amity all the way. I identify so strongly with Amity...I know I would fit in with their banjo playing peaceful ways.

  16. I also took the quiz and got Dauntless! & incidentally I also put in my blog post about it that as writers I think we all are courageous.

  17. I took the quiz and got Dauntless too! I blame the fact that I don't like cheese. If it had been any other food I might have picked that over the knife.
Insurgent is the next book I'm going to read once I've finished Daughter of Smoke and Bone.
And I'm also Hufflepuff but I don't know what district. Where did you find that quiz?

  18. I'm the world's biggest chicken, so there's no way I'd end up with Dauntless. Too bad, really, because they are by far the coolest faction. I can't do the quiz because I don't have a Facebook account anymore, but I think I'd end up in Erudite or something. Knowing myself, that's what I went with in my post, even though the Erudite are just terrible. O_o

  19. I got dauntless in the quiz too but i'm not sure how much wishing to be brave slanted the results.
