Writer Recharge: Final Update

How is that it’s MARCH already?!

Actually, I’m kind of happy to see February go. Laptop crashing, not getting to see writer friends, abysmal winter weather? Yeah. Good riddance.

The saving grace was Writer Recharge. I didn’t meet all my February goals, but, thanks to Sara’s awesome program, I made great strides on several of them. Here’s a bit of what I was able to accomplish…

WRITE/REVISE – Choose writing goals for the month.
This month I want to finish revisions on the current WiP.

UPDATE: I did not finish, BUT I did knock a lot of items off the revision list AND my comment count went from 100 to 10. I’ll take it. And I am seeing that pretty clear light at the end of the revision tunnel so I’m hoping, HOPING, I can finish this thing by Pi Day.

READ/REREAD - Read a book that's been on your TBR forever or reread something that had a great impact on you.
I bought ALLEGIANT the week it hit the shelves and um…I still haven’t read it. I’m going to fix that this month.
Did not finish, but I did start ALLEGIANT and I should finish that within the week.

STRETCH - Do something outside your comfort zone, from reading a genre you typically avoid to trying a new food or rock climbing when you're afraid of heights - that kind of thing.
Make strides in re-teaching myself Statistics (for research purposes)
CHECK. And still working on it. Learning all about the beauty of z scores. #sarcasm

SELF - Do something good for your mind or your body.
I’m already doing this, but I started a tap class before Christmas. I’m going to make it a goal to go each week, no matter how busy things get.
I only went to two of four. Will try to do better this month.

CONNECT - Find a way to make a difference in someone’s life. Make a connection, via social media or in person. Initiate twitter writing parties, have a real-life write-in with writers in your town, or offer to critique or beta read someone’s work.
The write-in thing sounds like an awesome idea. So, I’m going to try that. J
Write-in didn’t happen, but I managed a few Twitter writing parties during the day so…

FUN - Make a goal to do something super fun and exciting that you can look forward to.
a)      I know you’re probably still in shock over the ALLEGIANT thing, but here’s something else I haven’t done yet: eaten at Chipotle. Making a date with the daughter to do just that.

This didn’t happen . . . YET. I’m hoping to get there in the next two weeks.

b) Valentine’s dinner with the hubs. We don’t get many of those date nights. I’m going to make sure we have one sometime this month!
CHECK. Awesome Vietnamese cuisine with the fabulous husband. J

How’d you do?! Also, if you participated at all during the Writer Recharge, you are eligible for this fantastic prize from Sara! Check out the awesome on her blog and be sure to sign up on the linky!

  1. I have managed Chipotles about once a week for the month of February. Maybe I should have made that a goal???? Go on and try it. You will love it! thanks for the month of fun!

  2. Only a former math teacher would set Pi Day as a finishing goal. :-) But, I fully support that goal, because I am desperate to read your story! Congrats on all you've accomplished in February, and I'm with you -- glad to see the start of March. Happy revising, friend!

  3. Oh, I'm glad you are making progress! The end is in sight! And you got your date with the hubs; I wish I could've met that goal. I really enjoyed jumping in, even though I was late to the game. Maybe this should become a more regular thing!

  4. Pi Day... I got a laugh out of that, too. I think that you did awesome with your revisions considering that your laptop crashed! The good news about Writer Recharge is that even if we don't have formal check-ins, we're all pretty fantastic people who will still cheer you on as you move closer to your goals.

Toad finished DIVERGENT and INSURGENT. When I asked him if he wanted me to start looking for ALLEGIANT (I either lent it to someone or it's buried under the piles in my office), he said, "Nah, I'm going to read the Hunger Games." He read 13 chapters yesterday. :)

Here's to a very productive March!

  6. Just yesterday I told someone I'd never eaten at Chipotle and he said, "How is that possible???" So apparently you and I are the only two people to have never eaten there. Soon it will be only me :)

    Thanks for hosting Recharge!

  7. You got really close to completing that revision, so I count it as a win. Also, I had Chipotle last week and it was yummy, so you need to get there for sure!

  8. I really want Chipotle now! Maybe tomorrow, when I'm sure I'll make it out that way (since a friend is visiting for the weekend and we somehow ALWAYS make it out to the mall where it is...).

Great job on your revision progress this month! And also on teaching yourself statistics.
